Louis Bennett Public Library Weston, WV

I visited this interesting library in June of 2017.  The library is just an old house named after the original owner.  Since I love exploring old houses it was so fun to take a look inside this gem!

I have to admit that I was a bit creeped out by this house.  Maybe because we were only a couple blocks away from the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum.

As I got closer the details were amazing.

The door itself was amazing.  I could just imagine Mr. Bennett strolling through.

It had an odd feel.  It was quite literally a house with shelving added for books.  At least they were respecting the integrity of the house.  A beautiful chandelier hung in the foyer.

An example of the shelving.  It looks as if the only thing that was added to the structure was the lighting.  It was mainly quiet but the children's area was vivid with little ones.  The selection of books seemed more expansive than what I expected from this little town library.

I just love these old sinks!

Radiator and tile floors from who knows how long ago!

Beautiful sitting area for administration at the top of this pretty staircase leading to the third floor.

Another picture of the staircase.  I was way more interested in the house details than the library aspect of things.

I'm so glad I visited this little library.  I just love the town of Weston!  This was just another piece of beautiful architecture in the area!

Where to next??

Until Next Time!

Elkins Randolph County Public Library Elkins West Virginia

I was able to visit this little library while visiting Elkins West Virginia in the summer of 2017.

Although quiet and dark, it was very cozy.  I was surprised with the beautiful detailed woodwork on the front door.

The building inside was very dated.  I noticed that a lot of the books available here were pretty old with no "just arrived" section that I could find.  No children scurried around the small children's area.  Only two other adults were here other than the couple of staff members.  The adults were reading newspapers.  I fear the newspaper were the only modern/up to date choices in the library.

I took a picture of this fountain because it reminded me of the school fountains in my elementary school.

I did manage to find a book to settle in with for a while.

I enjoyed this library but it really showed that the county it sits doesn't have the resources that the citizens deserve.

Until Next Time.

Boonsboro Free Library- Boonsboro Maryland

Hello All,

I visited this library while on my adventure day back in April of 2017.  It was a beautiful smallish library.  The pictures speak for themselves.

The interior was warm and inviting.  It reminded me more of a ski lodge than a library.  Perfect for a chilly April day.

I like taking pictures of some books that I read for a bit while there.  I still haven't been able to find this book in my local stores.  I may have to order it on Amazon.

It's about a woman facing her fears so she can truly enjoy her life.  Very appropriate for the season of life that I am in.

Until Next Time.

The day my hobby started.... Williamsport Maryland

Back in August of 2016, my family was heading to Hagerstown, Maryland taking the relaxing Rt. 11 North road.  We had decided that we would stop along the way at any stop that one of us found interesting.  We had stopped at the C & O canal for my son and hubby was holding out for a flea market.  While going through the little town of Williamsport, Maryland I decided I wanted to check out the small but interesting looking library.

But first let me tell you about why I decided to start this blog.

I love our local library in the Shenandoah Valley.  We are spoiled with not only a huge selection but also with architecture so beautiful you won't want to leave.  Although I wasn't taken to the library as a child (except for a school field trip) I took my son every week through out his toddler and preschool years.  We also did the summer time reading & programs up until he said he was "too old for that stuff." Sigh.  I myself still love going to the library and I go as often as I can.  I rarely check out anything anymore because I'm such a slow reader but I just like going there to relax, wander the shelves and read (even for just a short while) There is something about being surrounded by books with so many possibilities.  It's just a wonderful feeling.

So, I decided to share that with you.  I love libraries not only for the books but also for the buildings, people and communities they serve.  Here I'll share what I find.  Who knows? You may come upon one of these little gems yourself one day!  Enjoy!

It looked more like a house from the outside than a library.  I only took two pictures this time.  It was small, very small in fact but it seemed to serve the community well.

It was extremely hot this day and I noticed the A/C seemed to have a hard time keeping up with the hot temperatures outside.  This is the children's room where they ran a fan in the corner.

This is the first library I "checked out"-- :)  Please excuse my stupid puns.

I hope to become better at describing the libraries and giving a short discussion on books available and overall feeling.  However I hope to focus mainly on and get better at featuring the libraries in photographs.  I am not a writer by any means, but I hope that I can highlight these very important component of our communities.

Thanks for stopping by.....
